Originally from southwestern Kentucky, I now reside in rural Indiana with my husband and two sons.
I garden, roller skate, eat a vegetarian diet, craft, and write on the walls of my house with Sharpies.
I grew up on a huge farm with three brothers. I began playing piano at age 4 and currently play mass for my son’s school and two local Catholic churches.
I’m the owner and editor of Shoots and Vines Zine. I’m very active in the underground lit scene. I enjoy getting mail through the post and dread looking at my email box because it feels so impersonal.
I began submitting work in late 2008 and after three months of submitting and getting published, I withdrew from writing. Something changed inside of me, and although I knew I needed to write to release, I bound up everything. I think I have this fear of expectations that often holds me back. When editors began asking for my work, old fears crept in – especially the fear that what I write would cease to be my own.
Silly, I know. Especially since I publish so many other excellent writers’ pieces.
So I woke up this morning and thought, dammit, I’m a writer. Why aren’t I writing?
